Children are growing up in a digital world, where their interest in technological devices and ICT-based learning, should be utilised by teachers in the classroom.
Many children also, enjoy drawing and colouring, as it is an activity where they get to express themselves and relax their minds. Imagine if their colouring pages were to come to life?
Quiver is a digital app that allows physical colouring pages to come to life in 3D augmented reality. “Augmented reality (AR) is a technology designed to integrate or combine virtual objects. The combination of two or three-dimensional virtual objects is brought into a real three-dimensional environment which is then projected in real time” (Kisno et al. 2022)
This app is easy to use and can be provided by parents at home or by teachers in the classroom. Teachers, simply need to print out the colouring pictures from the thousands provided on the app, children are to colour those pictures. Then, using the quiver app on a digital device, children are to scan their pictures and watch their picture come to life. The three-dimensional animations also have interactive features that allow students to creatively engage with their creation.

How does Quiver (3D Colouring App) allow teachers to foster creativity in classrooms?
This technology can be used to teach various subjects, whilst fostering creativity. As well as, meeting the NSW Science syllabus content of working scientifically, and design and production (Science & technology NESA, 2017). Quiver can be used in a science classroom to teach and explain the design and construction of plant cells. As the 3D augmented reality animation provides a 360-degree view of the whole cell, as well as incorporating labels. Additionally, teachers can utilise this app to help students who struggle with counting the edges, faces and vertices of 3D shapes. Students may also use Quiver to colour in their own flags and country map and reflect on their cultural identities and country history.

Potential Advantages & Limitations
This learning tool is suitable for all school ages students and can be used in an average size classroom. Using augmented reality technologies creates a learning environment, where students are highly engaged and motivated to learn and communicate with peers. One limitation is that disadvantaged schools may not have access to enough digital devices to conduct this activity in their classroom. Also, augmented reality is a fairly new technology, teachers may require support in their implementation of this technology in the classroom.

Hi Djoumana,
I loved reading this blog post and how you demonstrated the versatility for the classroom. One thing that I did notice was that you mentioned that there are more images available than what is mentioned in the Quiver video that you attached. Which statement is accurate? Other than that, it was an engaging post and I can not wait to see more of your posts in the future! Lee Gardner (11/04/23)
